December 2014 - Be Inspired

" You can find inspiration in everything. And if you can't, look again"- Paul Smith

Bao had his first surgery in grade 1, the second in grade 3, and the third in grade 5. He was a school drop-out by grade 9. At the age of 19, Bao decided to cut off his leg to put an end to the pain he had endured for more than 10 years. Reflecting his feelings at that moment, Bao simply said "I felt happy..."

Trung, 21 years old, came to Hanoi from a small hometown. For 21 years Trung did not understand why his biological-parents decided to give him up when he was just 5 months old. Perhaps they were too poor. Perhaps they had no choice. But for whatever the reason, Trung feels no animosity towards his biological parents.  He is grateful for the unconditional love and care of his adoptive mother, who is now 70 years old.

Bao and Trung were both REACH students, studying Sales and Marketing.

At REACH, each year we meet hundreds of students like Bao and Trung, whose stories add another convincing reason why we are doing our work. It is not merely because we are going to change someone's life, but their perspective towards life inspires us. Despite their disadvantages, REACH students always show positive thinking. They consider themselves lucky to receive a helping hand and to have a chance to learn and get a job. Talking with these young people, their stories, combined with their positivity, would make anyone feel ashamed for any complaints or depressing thoughts they have ever had.

Every student at REACH can share an impactful story of strong will and hope. And the good thing at REACH is that those stories all take a good turn.

For Bao and Trung, after three months of training, they have found a job as sales persons at Suntory Pepsico Vietnam.

A call for old clothes and household items donation

REACH students come from difficult backgrounds. Many of them are from other provinces. Moving to new place and starting a life on their own, REACH students are in great need for household items to support their daily life activities. However, because of financial difficulties, many of them cannot afford new ones.
If you have old clothes and household items you don't use, please donate them to REACH.
Contact Ms. Dung - Email: /  phone: 0904 886 309 to arrange your donation. Thank you!
