Kicking Goals Transforming Lives: REACH Rumble Football Tournament Officially Announced

  • Fundraising event to help educate underprivileged and disadvantaged youth
  • September 29 has been announced as the date of the inaugural REACH Rumble Football Tournament
  • We’re currently looking for sponsors to help fund the event and raise money
  • The REACH Rumble will be held at British University Vietnam

The REACH Rumble Football tournament has officially been confirmed for September 29 bringing to a close months of speculation. The Rumble will raise funds for disadvantaged youth from marginalised groups including ethnic minorities, the LGBT community, and disabled persons among many others.

The event, which will see 18 teams from across Hanoi compete over one action packed day, will officially be played at the British University of Vietnam at Eco Park. The REACH team could not be more ecstatic.

“It really is an amazing venue and we’re so happy BUV agreed to let us use their field,” said Fundraising Officer, Anh Nguyen. “This has been months in the works and we’re really excited to finally be pushing ahead.”

“This event will be a great way to bring our sponsors, business partners, staff, and students together. We want these groups to meet each other face to face and give them an opportunity to interact in a fun and friendly environment and we think a football tournament is the perfect format.”

Mr Tung, the web coding teacher and coach of the REACH All Stars, agreed.

“BUV is a great venue. The field is well maintained and the facilities are excellent. That said, The REACH All-Stars will take home the cup no matter where the event is held. For 3 years I’ve been managing the REACH Super Cup and I have seen some really great footballers take the field. The team we put together for the REACH Rumble will be the fastest, most agile, and best looking team of all of those assembled. We will win this competition. I have no doubt in my mind.”

Despite Mr Tung’s confidence, at this stage, the field is still wide open. Aside from the REACH All Stars there are a number of team slots still to be taken. At present these can only be purchased as part of the REACH Rumble Gold Sponsorship Package although a number of slots have been reserved for the general public and will be made available in the coming weeks.

That said, the executive committee is not just looking for teams.

“We’re not just planning a football tournament,” says Nguyen. “We’re planning a family fun day. There will be live entertainment and activities for the kids and some great food on offer. We want to create an event that everyone can enjoy.”

Stall slots in the BUV plaza for during the event are currently available for purchase but they are limited and interested parties should get in quick. Enquiries can be made via

Jammed in between the World Cup qualifiers, the REACH Rumble is the perfect way for sports enthusiasts to get their fix of the world game. The REACH team has years of experience with fundraising events and the REACH Rumble promises to be yet another great day.

“The students are incredibly excited and enthusiastic,” Nguyen went on. “It really is shaping up to be a great event and a really fun day!”
